The Effect of BCG vaccine on COVID-19 severity and mortality

چکیده
Aim: To investigate the effect of Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine on severity and mortality disease in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 this study.
 Methods: This study was conducted as a retrospective observational tertiary reference hospital Turkey. The were divided into two groups BCG positive negative according to presence scar. compared terms radiological involvement, hypoxia, need for intensive care unit (ICU) intubation, mortality.
 Results: required more inpatient treatment (p = 0.001). involvement severe group 0.016). Forty-one (22.7%) twenty-two (42.3%) treated ICU, difference statistically significant 0.007). More had hypoxia than (59.6% vs. 40.9%, p 0.018). needed intubation (21.2% 8.8%, 0.024). Nine (17.3%) 12 (6.6%) died, 0.027).
 Conclusion: length stay longer, severe, ICU higher BCG-unvaccinated COVID-19.
